IP Network Camera Systems

Which is better? IP Video Security Camera Systems or CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) System.

Should we use Digital or Analog Cameras?
Digital is the best format.
1. Analog breaks down over time.
2. Analog is bulky and hard to store
3. Analog is more sensitive to the environment
4. Analog camera’s requires they’re own coaxial cable.
5. Analog requires more installation labor.
6. Analog camera’s need to be powered by separate wired power source.
7. Etc.

The list goes on much longer.
Are DVR’s (Digital Video Recorder) the best way to store video?
DVR’s are not the best form of archiving Digital Video.

1. DVR’s are purchased in needed size (16 channels).
2. DVR’s are not easily integrated with other Security Systems.
3. Must use excessive wiring.
4. If you need to move a camera, you need to run a wire all the way to the DVR.

What makes IP Cameras so much better?
IP Network Cameras will Increase ROI (Return On Investment) and they will decrease your TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
1. Reduce labor costs.
2. No need to run separate power.
3. Future support.
4. Better video quality.
5. Smaller cameras
6. Most businesses need to install Ethernet wire for network anyway.
7. Net workable (multiple cameras on one cable).
8. Integrates with Access Control Systems.
9. Accessible from any PC, laptop and many phones.
10. No need for dedicated Security Monitors
11. Monitoring may be done in one location, no matter the size of network.
12. You can add IP cameras 1 at a time, with out updating archiving, into the thousands.

Cameras have come a long way in the past 5 years. The prices of IP Digital Cameras are now comparable to older less efficient cameras. In a few years time all analog systems will be obsolete. The good news is that you can start adding all your IP cameras onto your network and tie in your analog with Digital converters. The Internet access can provide any camera to be viewed by authorized personnel anywhere high speed access is available. You can check on alerts without driving to the location. This saves time, while making the entire process more convenient. Don’t forget it is also safer for your management (even if that is you). With the amount of benefits, there is no other choice. When choosing a system make sure it is a open platform system (IP network cameras) so you can take advantage of all the variety of cameras with all major brands putting all their efforts into this technology you will have more choices and reduced pricing.
